The Canon EF16-35mm f/4L IS USM ultra-wide-angle lens features the optimal configuration of three aspherical lenses, including a large-diameter GMo (Glass-Molded) dual-surface aspherical lens element. Compared with the current-model ultra-wide-angle EF17-40mm f/4L USM, the EF16-35mm f/4L IS USM’s ability to correct for distortions, curvature of field and astigmatism makes possible greatly improved imaging performance, particularly in the peripheral areas of the frame. When shooting landscapes, the new lens enables trees, buildings and other details located in the frame periphery to be clearly and accurately captured.
Canon’s first L-series wide-angle lens to incorporate IS (Image Stabilization), the EF16-35mm f/4L IS USM makes possible up to approximately four shutter-speed stops* in image stabilization, providing users with the flexibility to capture images in low-light settings without a tripod and the ability to realize expressive photography possibilities using slow shutter speeds.

* Conforms with CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) standards. When used with the EOS-1D X digital SLR camera at a 35 mm focal length.
