Shot wide open at minimum focus distance from subject (focus on the face).

All values (contrast, saturation, color tone, etc.) set at 0 in Canon DPP.
No softfocus effect used in this case.

This lens, when used wide open shows some amount of vignetting in the corners. In this case is it fine for such kind of portraits, where the subject is centered in the frame.
For subjects that fills the frame you will need to correct vignetting or close to f/5.6 to avoid it.

Bokeh is pleasant. As it was shot wide open, you will not see any hexagon highlights due to the six diaphragm blades of the lens.
Some color shift in the high contrast areas is visible but not distracting.

In the upper part of the frame you may notice some banding, this has nothing to do with the lens, it's due the limitations of the Canon 5D and the way I took the picture (f/2.8, 1/30s, ISO 400)

Also i think you should make an account on your comments on how you shot a photo and the physics behind it would be more appreciated there than here.

Like this shot a lot. The cat is beautiful portrayed. The focus is excellent.
