The Sigma AF 18-50 mm f/ 2.8 EX DC D is a standard fast zoom lens with a constant lens speed for SLR cameras of popular autofocus APS-C or 4/3 systems.
EX series is a professional line of Sigma lenses, remarkable for its high mechanical and optic quality.
DC series is a line of Sigma lenses optimized for digital SLR APS-C cameras.
The Sigma AF 18-50 mm f/ 2.8 EX DC is lightweight and compact. At the same time it has rather good optical characteristics. When wide open, it slightly softens an image.
Its optical scheme includes SLD and aspherical lenses, which makes it possible to successfully minimize principal aberrations. The focusing is internal, the front element does not rotate during focus operations.
In 2006 the lens was discontinued and replaced with the Sigma AF 18-50 mm f/ 2.8 EX DC Macro.
