The Nikon AF Nikkor 50 mm f/ 1.4 D is a fast full-frame autofocus prime lens.

The lens is very compact, light and convenient. It features a high-quality build.

Pros: fast and accurate autofocusing, high image quality, low level of chromatic aberrations, good sharpness (from f/2.8), affordable price.

Cons: visible vignetting and softness at maximum aperture settings (at f/1.4 it looks like a scattering filterbeing used). However, both problems are improved by stopping down (approximately from f/2.8 onwards sharpness is all right).

The Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D lens shows better results on full-frame cameras.

Strengths:

Small, light, fast AF, excellent picture, fantastically sharp at covering aperture.

Weaknesses:

Poor form factor, soft on max aperture
