The Canon EF 85 mm f/ 1.2 L USM is an ultra fast portrait lens for Canon EOS film and digital cameras.
The maximum aperture ratio of 1.2 makes it possible to minimize depth of field, and a 8-blade aperture delivers a beautiful blurring of out-of-focus areas (bokeh).
With a lens speed this fast, the lens allows you to take high-quality pictures in bad lighting conditions without a tripod or a flash.
Basically, the lens is already rather sharp even at f/1.2, though it is not so easy to focus on necessary details, especially, if the subject is static.
Due to the aspherical lens in the optical scheme, aberrations are rather well corrected.
The Canon EF 85 mm f/1.2L USM uses internal focusing. The front lens does not rotate. Manual adjustment of sharpness is possible at any time by turning the focus ring.
It is very well assembled. It can boast dust and moisture protection, and absence of plays.
Color rendering is beautiful and rather accurate. The lens delivers average contrast, which is useful for portrait photography.
The built-in ultra-sonic motor makes focusing rather fast and silent. It is able to easy and invariably "capture the target" even in poor lighting conditions.
The lens is well resistant to side and back light.
