The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 ISis a low-end zoom lens (only for APS-C cameras with the EF-S bayonet mount) equipped with a 4-stop optical image stabilizer. It was meant to complete the EF-s 18-55 IS kit lens (they were included in the double lens kits for some cameras).
It has a perfect price-quality relationship. This is a very light lens, equipped with a powerful image stabilizer. It delivers high resolution throughout the entire range, slight chromatic aberrations and moderate distortion. The following shortcomings should be noted: visible vignetting when wide open; the front element rotates with the focus ring.
