The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is the second version of a high-quality fast standard zoom lens with a constant maximum aperture which can satisfy the needs of any photographer with a 35 mm DSLR Canon EF camera.
The new Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM has a fully redesigned optical scheme and delivers excellent accuracy, image quality and reliability. The compact size (its length has been reduced by 10.5 mm and its size has been reduced by 145 g) makes it ideal for any type of photography. Optical quality has been improved, the lens produces high resolution, and at the same time distortion decreases throughout the entire zoom range, especially at the maximum focal length of 70 mm.
The fully redesigned optical scheme consists of 18 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical elements, two UD elements, and one super UD glass element for minimizing chromatic aberrations and color blurring. The lens provides invariably high contrast images. Each lens has the optimized Super Spectra lens coating for minimizing flare and halation. Besides, a fluorite coating minimizes the amount of dust, dirt and fingerprints on the front and rear lens elements, which ensures high image quality.
The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM allows photographers to take a close-up pictures from a minimum focusing distance of 0.38 m throughout the entire range of zoom and focal lengths. A ring-type USM, coupled with a high-performance processor and advanced autofocus algorithms, provides accurate, silent and supersensitive autofocusing. For those who prefer total control of every frame the full time manual mode makes it possible to accurately adjust or change distance shooting any time even during autofocus operations.
