The Nikon AF Nikkor 35-105 mm f/ 3.5-4.5 D lens completes the 35-105 mm zoom family, the non-autofocus Zoom-NIKKOR 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 lens being a founder in 1983. The characteristic feature of these systems is changing aperture settings while setting focal lengths, which has made the design simpler and cheaper.
According to some reports, more than 60,000 lenses of this type were produced.
There are different opinions concerning the name of the lens: sometimes IF (internal focusing) is added to the lens name, but according to characteristics, the same the Nikon AF NIKKOR 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5D lens is lens. The fact is confirmed in the well-known publication by Boris Bakst and Igor Bazhan "Nikon, what are you? (part III) Nikkor autofocus lenses", Moscow, 2004.
The front lens has a very short travel: approximately 45° when refocusing from 85 cm to infinity.
