It is an good lens to start photography, but if you want to take better photos you need an other lens.

Good sharpness and contrast overall. Build is plastic but light.
None specific considering the cost.
I am surprised the 18-70 gets a better review from some as i have compared them and find the 18-70 is week at the wide setting when used wide open. Softness is evident from about 1/3 out from centre to the edges. I foind the 18-55 better at the edges especially wide open.
