Macro scale - 1:2 (at 200-300mm in macro mode).
Equivalent focal length is 105-450mm.
3 SLD elements were used in it's optical design. Chromatic aberrations exist and are easily seen at 300mm focal length.
This lens has a good resolution in the center of a frame. Resolution fall is quite visible at the edges of a frame. Maximum of a lens optical quality can be achieved using apertures from F8 to F11.
Focusing system of Sigma AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro is slow and quite noisy. From time to time you can get lens chaotic movement thus trying to focus and fails. This happend in low-light conditions and with low-contrast objects. Front element of a lens is moving during focusing.
Color reproduction tends to have warm tints. Image contrast is average.
This lens is not bad resisting back and side lighting but using lens hood is recommended.
There is a possibility of shooting in 1:2 scale (in 200-300mm range with switching lens to macro function by a special slider on a lens body)
Sigma AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro is good for a wild nature shooting and some close-up work. It is also good choice for a travel photography..
Lens hood is included in a set.
Attention: In Pentax K version AF system will not work with SF type cameras.
