The Minolta AF 24-85 mm f/ 3.5-4.5 RS is a good kit lens, which can be used as a portrait lens, as well.
Pros: good color rendering and contrast, sharp from 50 mm onwards, decent bokeh.
Cons: very bad performance at 24 mm, bad back light handling, tints of yellow, slow AF.
