The Carl Zeiss Apo Sonnar 135 mm F2  is an  apochromatic portrait manual focus and zoom lens for 35 mm Canon EF (model ZE) and Nikon F (model  ZF.2) DSLR cameras.

The apochromatic design is provided with optical elements with anomalous dispersion. As well as  the other SLR lenses, the Sonnar 2/135 features Т*  anti-reflective coating. The edges of its optical elements have been treated with special black varnish, which considerably decreases rereflections and light scattering inside the lens.

The Apo Sonnar T * 2/135 features an all-metal body design,  providing durable consumption  and high-quality performance. The lens is compatible with F (model ZF.2) and EF (model ZE)  camera mounts.

Owner reviews: Carl Zeiss Apo Sonnar 135 mm f/ 2 Z

Kostas 25.10.2018 14:20:34
Period of use: 3 years

Strengths:

Very sharp lens (used on digital cameras from 24 to 50 mpix). Can't think of a sharper 135mm fast lens. Superb construction. Minimal focus distance is quite good. Produces a large image circle when stopped down a bit, therefore it is usable on 0.79x factor cameras like Fuji GFX or Hasselblad X1D.

Weaknesses:

Quite heavy. Focus ring is smooth but not very comfortable too grip. With this exeptional sharpness and mechanical quality, it could use more that 9 blades in iris.

Comments:

Probably the best portrait prime lens I have ever used. Although it is not that expensive for the bang when bought new, I would suggest too look for a used option, as sometimes it is possible to find them for a great price.
