The Samyang 10mm F2.8 ED AS NCS CS is an ultra-wide angle prime lens for various DSLR APS-C/DX cameras. It was announced as a prototype of a most extreme wide-angle lens with corrected distortion for digital APS-C/DX and 4/3 cameras.
The optical scheme comprises 14 elements in 10 groups, including two aspherical elements and one extra-low dispersion glass element. Its most concave optical surface is covered with a nano crystal coating. It is Samyang's first lens to have a nano crystal coating.
As usual for Samyang lenses, focusing and aperture setting are manually controlled. Angle of view: ~110 ° (~ 106 ° for Canon variant). Effective focal length for 35 mm cameras: 15-16 mm; for 4/3 cameras: 20 mm.
The lens prototype was shown at Photkina 2012 on September 14, 2012 and was expected to come into the market in the late 2012 or early 2013. It was announced on December 6, 2013 with estimated delivery in January, 2014 at the recommended retail price of 430 £ (470 £ for Nikon AE). As distinct from its prototype, the lens has received the Nano Coating System (NCS) and the integrated lens hood.
