The Minolta AF 28-80 mm xi  f/ 4-5.6  is a good portrait kit lens.

Pros: good bokeh at 80 mm, good color rendering and contrast, decent sharpness in the range of 50-80 mm.

Cons: bad performance at 28 mm, bad back light handling, yellow highlights, slow AF.
