The Sigma AF 180mm F3.5 APO MACRO EX DG HSM is a high-quality full format telephoto macro lens for shooting miniature objects at a long distance and which can be used as a telephoto lens with shallow depth of field.
The lens is equipped with a 3-mode focus limiter switch. Besides a full-range mode, two limited modes are available: from 46 to 61 cm and from 61 cm to infinity.
Chromatic aberrations increase on stopping down (increase of aperture values from f/8 to f/32), which is uncharacteristic of telephoto lenses.
Evaluation of Sigma designations:
-
AF for autofocus.
-
APO- an apochromatic lens, minimizing chromatic aberration. Lenses designated APO can be used with EX teleconverters.
-
HSM - a uhyper sonic motor drive providing silent and fast focusing.
-
EX - a high-quality line of lenses, combining reliability, convenience and excellent optical characteristics.
-
IF - a mechanism of internal focusing does not affect the lens size while focusing and without the front element rotation.
-
DG - a full format lens optimized for DSRL cameras.
-
MACRO - macrography with the max. magnification ratio of 1:1.
