Owner reviews: Sigma DC 18-50 mm f/ 3.5-5.6

NerveNet 06.03.2020 02:04:25
Period of use: 15 year

Strengths:
  • Inexpensive
  • Light
  • Small
  • 7 straight aperture blades
  • Comes with lens hood
  • Metal bayonet mount

Weaknesses:

  • Unsharp
  • Noisy motor drive

Comments:

This is my kit lens that came with my Canon EOS 300D.

The motor is noisy but it is quick.

Regarding image quality it is unsharp at any focal length on my 300D, I tested it on the 50D where it is also unsharp, in general it is unsharp compared to the current Canon 18-55mm kit lenses.

It presents some color fringing in high contrast areas, more visible in the edges of the frame.

Color rendition is ok.
