Additional information:
The Olympus OM-System Zuiko Auto-W 18 mm f/ 3.5 is an ultra-wide angle prime lens for 35 mm Olympus OM SLR cameras.. This is OM Zuiko's extreme wide-angle lens with corrected geometric distortions.
The lens prototype, produced in 1971, features a filter thread. Although the other model was put into serial production. In order to mount a 72 mm filter, a 49 mm adapter ring should be used. The protruding front lens requires a delicate handling and a special deep cap.
The Zuiko Auto-W 1:3.5/18 mm lens' resolution is as good as that of analogous lenses, manufactured in the 70-80's. But the main advantage of the lens is a fully corrected distortion (great achievement for a wide angle lens).
The Zuiko Auto-W 1:3.5/18 mm was always multicoated.
The lens is rather expensive. Third party lenses with a focal length of 17 or 19 mm can be a cheaper alternative (Tamron, Tokina, Sigma, etc).
