The Tokina AT-X 16.5-135mm DX F/3.5-5.6is an all-purpose zoom lens with a wider angle for DSLR Canon EF-F and Nikon DX  APS-C cameras and cannot be used on full-frame cameras. The optical scheme of the  lens includes three aspherical elements: one molded and two composite elements which secure high sharpness and contrast. Two elements of  low-dispersion glass combat chromatic aberrations and vignetting.

A small rotation angle of the  focusing ring, on the one hand, makes autofocus faster, and on the other hand, decreases focusing accuracy in manual mode.

A very long period from the time of the first announcement to delivery, as well as five expensive glass elements, average quality slow zoom played a mean trick - the owners have not been found at http://www.flickr.com (as for Oct., 2010).

Evaluation of  Tokina designations:

  • AT-X (advanced technology extra) - the lens is designed by means of  advanced and new technologies and high-quality materials.
  • AF for autofocus.
  • DX - for digital SRL Canon EF-S and Nikon DX  APS-C cameras only.
  • IF - internal focusing (the lens does not extend, the front element do not rotate).
  • SD - Super Low Dispersion glass is used to minimize aberrations and increase contrast
  • AS - the use of aspherical lenses.
