The SMC Pentax-M 35-70mm f/2.8-3.5is a manual (only M mode available) standard zoom lens for 35 mm Pentax K SLR cameras.
The lens is based on a fast prototype K 35-70/2.8 that didn't go into production. Despite a variable lens speed at both ends, it is sufficient for creating an acceptable out-of-focus background.
On APS-C sensor cameras with a range of 52 - 105 mm, the lens is a versatile portrait lens for studio and street photography.
The lens has a rare for Pentax push-pull zoom design. Black. Metal. Heavy.
The build quality is superb with smooth and silky focusing and zooming.
This soft, but rather contrast and saturated portrait lens is also deemed a versatile medium zoom suitable for landscape and genre photography. It has no issues with color rendering as do some otherM series lenses.
At closed apertures ( from f/4.0 onwards) the lens is sharp.
Bokeh is nothing more than attractive.
