The Tamron AF 55-200mm F/4-5.6 Di II LD Macro (Model A15)  is a telephoto zoom lens. This is a convenient supplement for the standard 18-55mm lens for those who lacks for an affordable telephoto range. The lens is intended for digital SLR Canon EF-F, Nikon DX, Sony A APS-C-sized cameras (incompatible with full-frame cameras) and features a range of efficient focal lengths of 85-310 mm. The optical scheme employs multicoated optical elements, including one LD glass element.

The Tamron AF 55-200mm F/4-5.6 Di II LD Macro pros:

  • good resolution at the center at 55 mm,
  • almost no distortion at 55 mm,
  • slight astigmatism
  • vignetting is invisible when stopping down,
  • rather accurate autofocus,
  • affordable price.

The Tamron AF 55-200mm F/4-5.6 Di II LD Macro cons:

  • plastic body,
  • notable chromatic aberrations, especially at 200 mm,
  • visible coma,
  • flare in back light,
  • slow and noisy autofocus.

Evaluation of  Tamron designations:

  • AF - autofocus
  • Di II (Digitally integrated) - optimized for digital cameras with APS-C sized sensors only (max. 24x16 mm)
  • LD - "Low Dispersion" elements decreasing aberrations and increasing contrast
  • MACRO - macrography

The 5-year warranty extends to all Tamron lenses officially imported to the Russian Federation and purchased after September 1, 2010.  In order to get warranty you should get registered at the Tamron European website within two months after the lens purchase.  The warranty is valid only for the first registered buyer.
