Additional information:

The Canon EF 17-40 mm f/ 4 L USM is a professional wide-angle lens for film and digital Canon EOS cameras.

The device is well assembled, without backlashes. It is dust and moisture resistant.

On APS-C sensors the focal length range is equivalent to 28-70 mm.

In order to minimize spherical aberration, three aspherical elements of two different types are used in the optical system of the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0 L USM (although there is a slight distortion), while an ultra-low dispersion lens prevents chromatic aberrations.

In addition, a special Super Spectra lens coating minimizes the intensity of ghosting and flare caused by internal reflections.

Thanks to a circular aperture, the electromagnetic diaphragm (EMD) smooths tonal transitions and makes an out-of-focus image look more natural. The additional aperture reduces the possibility of flare and improves overall image contrast.

The Canon EF 17-40 mm f/4L USM is perfectly fit for shooting landscapes and architecture. It can be limitedly used for shooting genre scenes (lens speed may be insufficient).

A hood and a soft case are included in the delivery set.

Strengths:

It L-lens is relatively inexpensive. A good range of focal length on the FF. Good hood with a nap in complete. Good sharpness in the center.

Weaknesses:

Разрешение падает по краям. Есть дисторсия. Не показался слишком быстрым при фокусировке.

Comments:

A good lens for landscape / interior. For a street photo - too weak aperture ratio

Strengths:

A very good constructive, fast and accurate autofocus. Dust and water protection

Weaknesses:

Not too fast focusing in the dark. In the genre of reportage photography, and often a lack of Aperture ratio. Distortion still quite visible

Comments:

Very good lens especially if used on a film or Full Frame sensor. Overall a positive experience. Sold after buying the Sigma 20 1.8 and Sigma 12-24
