The Tamron AF 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro(Model A061) is universal full-format 10x zoom lens, specially designed for full-format digital SLR cameras, but it can easily be used on film and small-format digital cameras with a range of efficient focal lengths of 44-465 mm.
The compact and lightweight lens is convenient as an all-in-one lens for full-format cameras; a small-format camera lacks for wide angle.
The optical scheme of the Tamron AF 28-300 mm f/ 3.5-6.3 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro employs15 elements in 13 groups, including two hybrid aspherical elements, two LD glass elements, one XR element and one AD element. The optical elements are multicoated, which minimizes flare and rereflections.
The Tamron AF 28-300 mm f/ 3.5-6.3 Di II XR LD Aspherical (IF) Macrofeatures the zoom lock mechanism at 28 mm, which prevents barrel extension under its own weight when the lens is directed downwards. The focus ring rotates during autofocus operations.
Evaluation of Tamron designations:
-
AF : autofocus
-
Di (Digitally integrated) - optimized for full-format digital cameras

-
LD - low dispersion glass minimizing aberrations and increasing contrast
-
AD - Anomalous Dispersion glass
-
ASL (ASphericaL) - one or several aspherical elements
-
