The Rollei HFT Distagon 35mm f/2.8 is the most common wide-angle multicoated prime lens for 35 mm SLR cameras Rollei SL35. This is the Carl Zeiss Distagon 35/2.8 lens'replica, manufactured under the license agreement with Carl Zeiss at Rollei works in Germany and Singapore. The lens is remarkable for its high optical performance and beautiful pictures.
The lens came in two outwardly different versions. From 1974 to 1976 aperture and focus rings were metal and ribbed (QBM II), from April, 1976 they were rubberized. As for their optical performance the versions are quite identical. All the versions have no A/M aperture mode selector.
BOKEH. Best bokeh in 35mm focal length lens I know of. Bokeh supreme. Sharpness compares to any of my 35mm lenses, fine contrast exceptional and possibly the best I know in 35mm. No vignetting that I can see.
Zeiss logo / name has reputation I prefer to avoid.
If I could find a lens that compares to this and focuses the Pentax/Nikon direction, I would ditch this lens but there is nothing comparable after testing all the best lenses against this one.
