The Canon EF 600mm f/4L IS USM is a super telephoto prime lens for 35 mm SLR Canon EF cameras. It is discontinued.
The optical scheme comprises 17 elements in 13 groups, including two UD glass element and one fluorine glass element. The total number of elements also includes a protective glass and rear filter. The 2-mode image stabilizer offers a 4-stop shutter speed advantage. Mode 2 corrects camera vibration during panning shots on a tripod.
High-speed focusing is achieved by reducing the weight of focusing elements and enhancing AF drive algorithm. AF Stop function shuts off autofocus when obstruction appears. Manual focusing is carried out mechanically in the battery save mode.
The lens' basic componentsare constructed from magnesium alloy. A tight seal structure ensures excellent dust and moisture resistant performance. The lens also features a detachable tripod collar and a drop-in 52 mm filter holder. A carbon fiber lens hood and hard case are included.
