The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED is a professional wide-angle ultra fast prime lens. It is one of the best lenses concerning image quality.
The lens delivers very high resolution at the center; at the borders resolution is a bit lower when wide open, but still remains at a high level. The lens shows a moderate amount of distortion. Chromatic aberrations are negligible and do not practically depend on aperture settings. Vignetting is visible at f/1.4-2.0 about 2.1-1.4 EV. Filters, even broad, do not vignette. Bokeh is not always pleasant at the corners. The lens shows some focus shift when stopping down because of residual spherical aberration. It handles well back lighting.
It features a large depth of field, which enables video filming at open apertures. In so doing, the depth of field scale is almost useless. Manual focus adjustment is available in automatic mode at any time without switching to manual mode. The lens length remains constant, and the front element does not rotate on focusing. The build quality is high, the body is all-metal. The lens has dust and moisture sealing.
