The Canon FDn 200mm f/2.8(2) is a telephoto prime lens for 35 mm SLR Canon FD cameras equipped with the new bayonet mount. There were two versions with the same name, but considerably different in the optical scheme and focusing.
This is the second version of the lens. From June 1979 to October 1982 the 1st version was manufactured. This lens employs a different optical scheme (5 elements in 5 groups) and focusing system (not internal).
The optical scheme comprises seven multicoated (Super Spectra Coating) in six groups.
The lens uses a rear focusing system. The overall length of the lens does not change, and close range aberrations are negligible. As compared with the 1st version, the fall-off in resolution has been corrected at the borders at maximum aperture, the minimum focusing distance has been slightly reduced.
