Excellent optical engineering for a wide angle lens of that age. Very sharp and almost free from problems like distorsion. Heavy design, excellent back focus.
Weaknesses:
Pricing. Gets a bit soft if shot at 4.0. 82mm filter Thread makes it expensive to add filters or to replace the cover. Hard to find a fitting sunshade. Calibration and service should be made by professionals.
This lens can not be adapted to digital full-frame SLR.
Comments:
The isco westrogon was one of the first ever produced 24mm wide angle lenses. Released around 1958. The optics overperform some of the modern 24mm lenses especially in the corners. Beautyful design, it has 8 blades, not 5.
Available in M42, EXA, Nikon, Topcon, M39, Robot Royal among others. The rangefinder models are very rare and expensive. There are many subversions with small differences.
