The Nikon AF Nikkor 70-300 mm f/ 4.5-5.6 G  is a G type quality zoom lens with a great multiplication factor. NIKKOR G-type lenses have no aperture ring. Aperture is controlled from the camera.

It comes in two variants: silver and black. It is ideal for portraiture. It has shown good results in shooting sporting events and wild life.

The rounded 9-blade diaphragm make out-of-focus areas look more natural.

The lens transmits distance information to Nikon autofocus cameras.

The lens is very light. It has a wide range of focal lengths, which makes it indispensable for traveling, when every gram of photo equipment counts.

One of drawbacks - plastic bayonet mount. But this, in turn, provides smaller weight.

This is a very good lens concerning a price-quality relationship.
