Additional information:
The Canon EF 16-35 mm f/ 2.8 L II USM is a professional wide-angle zoom lens for Canon EOS film and digital cameras.
It was designed as a successor of a popular EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM lens.
A new optical scheme includes three different types of aspherical glass elements and two UD (ultra low dispersion) elements to achieve even higher quality than its predecessor (first of all, better elimination of aberrations).
Among the other structural changes the following should be noted: a slightly altered body design, a greater weight and length, as well as a 82 mm filter diameter.
This professional wide-angle zoom lens makes it possible to cover focal lengths of 16, 20, 24, 28 and 35 mm, keeping up a high level image quality. Thanks to a fast lens speed of f/ 2.8, the lens ensures a high-quality shooting both outside and in dimly lit rooms
The lens uses three types of aspherical elements: antiglare, replicated, and molded glass. They help to make sharpness and image contrast higher independent of a focusing distance. To minimize chromatic aberrations the Canon EF 16-35 mm f / 2.8 L II USM utilizes a special protection: two UD elements. To protect images from flare and halation the lens is equipped with a special coating - Super Spectra.
The lens is fully weather sealed: it is moisture and dust resistant.
A circular aperture is used to enhance bokeh background.
The lens features a very nice color and good image contrast.
There is a built-in gelatin filter holder in the rear part of the lens.
This lens has a smaller drop in resolution on the edges than does the first version. Vignetting when wide open is approximately the same. Some distortion is visible from 16 to 20 mm.
The Canon EF 16-35 USM II L is perfectly fit for genre, landscape, interior and architecture photography.
