Additional information:

The Minolta MC Rokkor 58 mm f/ 1.2   is a legendary Minolta manual lens.

The pictures taken with this lens are remarkable for its "sandy" bokeh, excellent flexibility and halftoning, nice color and good contrast.

The lens features a very reliable metal build and a smooth focus ring.

It is suitable for genre and portrait photography.

At present in the secondary market you can come across many versions adapted for other systems, for example, Canon EF.

The lens came in three versions:

Version 3 (since 1973 to 1978) The Minolta MC Rokkor-X (designation in orange) PG 58mm  f/1.2  ( the "Rokkor-X" orange designation was used for sale in the USA and Canada only, in the rest of the world the "Rokkor" designation was white)

Serial numbers range:    271-277

Improved multi-coating of a new version.

In 1978 the Minolta MC Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 was replaced by the 50mm MD f/1.2 with the optical scheme of the 58mm MC Rokkor-X f/1.2 lens.

Owner reviews: Minolta MC Rokkor 58 mm f/ 1.2

Сергей Бородин 1.1.2000 00:00:01
Period of use: 2 years

Strengths:

Gives a very beautiful picture in the range of apertures from 1.2 to 4. Strong constructive, rather easy taut and smooth focusing ring. Well work in backlight, but use the hood is recommend.

Weaknesses:

It is difficult to focus on 1.2, even with the focusing screen. Just enough static stories on this aperture.

Comments:

My lens is third version. Over 2 years of use has left a positive experience. However, the lens with 'character' that you want to get used to.

Used initially with Canon 5d then Canon 5d mark 2.

I highly recommend focusing screen with a microraster and wedges, because too large percentage of the wrong focus.

In my opinion - is one of the best lenses for 35mm. camera.
