Owner reviews: Carl Zeiss Planar 50 mm f/ 1.8

purelightglow 20.10.2017 13:35:29
Period of use: 2 years

Strengths:

Image quality very good at f1.8, colour, contrast, good resolution, image quality is often good with flare from direct sun

Weaknesses:

some vignetting, metering can sometimes be 3+ exposure on canon dslr (6D) so it's out of meter range. Shadows seem a little darker/ contrasty (Zeiss look norm ). colour accuracy may need digital editing due to coatings for film

Comments:

compared to a canon kit 50mm f1.8. I prefer the Zeiss Rollei 50mm 1.8 for the focus ring control, flare when modern coatings fail and rich colours
