The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G  is a normal full-frame fast prime lens, equipped with Silent Wave Motor autofocus drive. It has been designed for modern digital cameras. Its new optical scheme consists of  seven elements in six groups, including one aspherical element. The previous 50/1.8 les modifications utilized the same 6/5 optical scheme. The lens features two focusing modes: manual (M) and M/A with  quick selection between AF and MF.

The lens has been designed to replace the popular 50mm f/1.8D lens. As opposed to the predecessor, it is equipped with Silent Wave Motor autofocus drive, which provides more accurate and faster focusing. 

Unfortunately,  the aperture has retained seven blades.
