Additional information:
The Canon EF 24 mm f/ 2.8 is an inexpensive compact and light wide-angle lens for Canon EOS film and digital cameras.
With a wide angle and the lens speed of 2.8, this lens is fit for shooting in poor lighting conditions without a tripod or a flash.
It is already rather sharp at f/ 2.8. And it is very sharp from f/4 onwards.
It features quite good contrast and sharpness from f/5.6.
It is not equipped with a USM, so autofocusing is rather noisy and slow, especially in poor lighting conditions.
The Canon EF 24 mm f/2.8 does not handle very well side and back light. It exhibits a strong flare spots and pronounced chromatic aberrations. The use of a hood may markedly enhance the situation.
There are considerable drops in resolution on the edges. The level of vignetting is average at max. aperture settings.
The Canon EF 24 mm f/2.8 is useful for landscape, architecture, interior and genre photography. It is also fit for video filming on modern SLR cameras. The hood is strongly recommended!
