The Tamron SP AF 17-50 mm f/ 2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF) (Model A16) is a universal fast zoom lens.
This is an excellent lens for its price.
It is very sharp, convenient and rather compact. It features a reliable build of good quality. It focuses well, but very slowly.
Cons: pronounced distortion at the minimum focusing distance.
Petal lens hood included.
In 2009 the stabilized version with a different optical scheme was released.
