Additional information:
The Canon EF 28 mm f/ 1.8 USM is a compact fast wide-angle lens for Canon EOS film and digital cameras.
The optical scheme includes an aspherical element, which makes it possible to reduce the lens dimensions and greatly minimize spherical aberration.
With a wide angle and lens speed of 1.8, this lens allows you to take high-quality pictures in bad light conditions without a tripod or a flash.
It is rather sharp at f/1.8. From f/2.8 onward it is very sharp.
It has a 7-blade aperture. Out-of-focus blurring (bokeh) is not outstanding, but rather pleasant.
A built-in ultra-sonic motor makes focusing fast and silent. Focusing is internal. Manual focusing can be switched on at any time by turning the focus ring. The font part of the Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM does not rotate on focusing, which enables the use of special attachments, as well as gradient and polarizing filters.
The lens is resistant to back and side light. There is a loss of resolution and sharpness visible on the edges. Vignetting is quite notable at f/ 1.8, but after stopping down to f/2.8, it is almost invisible.
The Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM is useful for landscape, architecture, interior and genre photography. It can be used for full-length portraits. It is ideally fit for video shooting on modern SLR cameras. In general, a rule of thumb states that 28 mm is one of the most popular focal lengths. It is very good as a kit lens for APS-C (crop factor) cameras. Equivalent focal length in this case is 45 mm.
