My copy of this venerable lens is in general soft at f/2.8, being modestly sharp in the center, corners and borders are unsharp (may be due to the field curvature). You will notice this unsharpness in the picture.

You will also notice some vignetting at f/2.8 and barrel distortion is also present.

Regarding color rendition, colors have some kind of a washed out appearance, may be this lens was made primarily for black & white photography (1969-1973).

I got the best results from f/8 to f/11.

The copy I'm using corresponds to the second version, the one with the diamond shaped rubber focus ring.
