Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM is a high-quality fast standard zoom lens (only for APS-C cameras with the EF-S bayonet mount) with a 3-stop image stabilizer. The IS automatically detects when the camera is mounted on a tripod, thus preventing feedback loops between the IS sensor and stabilizer motor vibrations.
The optical scheme of the lens includes three high-precision aspherical elements and two Ultra-Low Dispersion glass elements ensuring a high-quality image throughout the zoom range.
The improved Super Spectra coating reduces flare and ghosting effect, caused by image sensor reflection, when used on digital cameras.
High resolution, high lens speed, fast and accurate focusing, and soft bokeh make the Canon 17-55 mm f/ 2.8 IS USM a powerful tool for crop factor cameras
