The SMC Pentax DA 35 mm f/ 2.4 AL is a fast wide-angle prime lens with a proprietary multi-coating for 35 mm Pentax K SLR cameras.

This is a good lens for its price, rather fast, with quick autofocus, pleasant bokeh, and light weight.

According to the official review: "The optical scheme of this lens has been specially designed for Pentax DSRL cameras and optimized for high quality digital photography" and "The original SP (Super Protection) coating prevents the front element from dust, water-based and oily substances."

Some of the SMC Pentax DA 35 mm f/ 2.4 AL cons: focusing is sometimes inaccurate; there may be aberrations on the edges when shooting contrast scenes; front focus adjustment is reported to cause problems when wide open, though I did not notice this problem with my lens; the price could be a bit lower, though I bought mine on the secondary market.

Strengths:
lightweight,fair quality, nice bookeh

Weaknesses:

cost, plastic costruction, sharpness

Comments:

The lens is not bad, but honestly in Pentax there are not a lot of choices.. It's well made, but it' made of plastic, more it's not weather sealed so it makes the body completely useless; the autofocus has the typical problem of Pentax lenses..meaning that there is a total lack of the autofocus motor. That makes the hunt noisy and slow. Anyway it's quite good. Also, there are sharper lenses at less price but not in the Pentax line up so... it's good enough
