The Sigma S 120-300mm F2.8 DG OS HSMis a fast telephoto zoom lens with a constant maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range for various 35 mm DSLR autofocus cameras.

The lens is a modification of its  predecessorreleased in February, 2011 года. It features a revised mechanism and enhanced performance. The Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 DG OS HSM  is the first lens in Sigma's new-concept Sport series.  The lens is the fastest of all zoom lenses with the same range of focal lengths. No manufacturer has ever released an analogous lens.

The optical scheme comprises 23 elements in 18 groups, including one SLD and two FLD glass elements.

This dust- and moisture -proof lens features a focus speed button and a focus limiter. The lens comes complete with metal hood and tripod mount ring (TS-51).

It is the first time when Sigma has preferred Thermally Stable Composite, which is exceptionally hard and less prone to thermal contraction, to regular polycarbonate for its new lens series. TSC has similar thermal expansion to aluminium. As compared to regular polycarbonate, containing 20 or 30% of glass, TSC  is meant to have approximately 70 or 25%.  Correspondingly, it is 25% more flexible and resilient than polycarbonate.

USB Dock Station + Sigma Optimization PRO Software is available for updating the lens firmware and adjusting its parameters. Sport series lenses can boast the possibility of adjusting focus speed, focus limiter and OS parameters.

The expected release date (March, 2013) was indefinitely postponed due to default in spare parts delivery. The situation was similar with USB Dock Station. UK and US Sigma branches promised to start deliveries in May, 2013.
