Owner reviews: Canon FDn 35 mm f/ 2

ProfHankD 05.01.2016 22:34:32
Period of use: 36 months

Strengths:

Usual FDn good contrast and sharpness. Not too big and fairly light. Bokeh marginally better than the S-M-C Takumar 35mm f/2.

Weaknesses:

FLARE! This lens would be great if only it didn't spray brightly colored flare all over at the slightest hint of bright spot in a scene. Worse still, the intense flare spots are often small enough to not be obvious in the finder... so you get these nasty little surprises when it's too late to reshoot.

Build is usual FDn plastic... soldi enough, but not a great feel to it.

Comments:

The flare is a real killer for me. I've lost too many shots with this otherwise optically excellent lens.
