Additional information:

Canon EF 300 mm f/ 2.8 L IS USM  is a professional L-series fast telephoto prime lens  for Canon EOS digital and film cameras.

It produces the highest image quality in its series.

Equivalent focal length for APS-C cameras:   480 mm.

The built-in 3-stop image stabilizer makes it possible to shoot in low-light-level conditions at shutter speeds up to 1/60.

It features an 8-blade aperture.  . Bokeh is beautiful, with soft tonal transitions and rounded circles of confusion.

The Canon EF 300 mm  f/ 2.8 L IS USM  produces sharp images from f/ 2.8 onward. There is slight vignetting when wide open.

The lens has a good dust and moisture protection.

A good balance especially on Mark cameras enables long-time handheld shooting.

The optical scheme includes two UD and one fluorite glass elements, which effectively minimizes aberrations and has a positive effect upon color and contrast rendering. The fluorite glass element is ground out of individually-grown soft crystals of optical fluorite.

The  Canon EF 300mm f/2L USM is well resistant to  back and side light.

Focusing is internal. The front lens does not rotate, which enables the use of a polarizing or gradient filter.  Manual adjustment of sharpness is possible at any time by turning the focus ring.

Color  rendering is natural, colors are saturated. Contrast of images is high.

Special filters can be installed in the rear part of the lens. Screw mount filters are unavailable. Streamline filters are available, but they are very rare on sale .

The built-in ultra-sonic motor makes focusing very fast and silent.  It features steady focusing even in low-light-level conditions, and the stabilizer enables shooting at rather slow shutter speed.

The Canon EF 300 mm f/ 2 L IS USM is perfectly fit for shooting animals, wild life, remote fragments and sporting events, as well as for photojournalism. It is better to use it with full-frame sensors.

The weight (including dimensions) and the price are perhaps the only flaws of the lens. But this is a consequence of laws of physics, economics and marketing :)

The lens is compatible with Canon extenders:  EF 1.4X and EF 2.0X.

It performs very well with the 1.4x converter - 420 mm at f/4 with stabilization functions maintained.

Compatible hood: ET-120

The lens comes completed with a hood, soft and hard cases.
