The Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSMis a superwide-angle 2x zoom with a constant maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range designed for  DSLR APS-C cameras and providing its owners with a very popular range of focal lengths of 15-30 mm.

The optical scheme of the Sigma 10-20 mm f/ 3.5 EX DC HSM includes four aspherical elements (two hybrid and two molded ) for correction of distortion and astigmatism, two SLD elements and one ELD element for correction of chromatic aberration. The super multi-coating of optic elements reduces flare and halation, and increases contrast.

The Hyper-Sonic Motor of the AF drive provides noiseless and high-speed focusing and the possibility of constant manual focusing without switching to the manual mode. The autofocus does not function on the Pentax * IST  and K100D cameras, which do not support the HSM.

The system of internal focusing eliminates the front lens rotation and provides convenient use of a petal hood and polarized filters, as well as focusing at minimum distance 24 cm throughout the entire zoom range.

The size of the Sigma 10-20 mm f/ 3 EX DC OS HSM changes while zooming in. It has smallest size at the focal distance of 15 mm, it is a bit longer at the focal distance of 20 mm, at the focal distance of 10 mm the lens reaches its maximum, becoming just 5 mm longer.

The  Sigma 10-20 mm f/ 3.5 EX DC HSM cons:

  • very good mechanical build,
  • superb image quality at the center at all focal lengths,
  • very good image quality on the edges,
  • well controlled astigmatism,
  • slight distortion at long focal lengths,
  • resistant to back light,
  • fast, quiet and precise autofocus,
  • 3-5 years of warranty.

The Sigma 10-20 mm f/ 3.5 EX DC HSM cons:

  • very large filter diameter,
  • considerable chromatic aberration in the middle of focal lengths,
  • fairly high distortion at a close focal length,
  • corners at a close focal length,
  • considerable level of vignetting,
  • visible coma.

Period of use: 1 day

Strengths:

I have this lens really cheap the true is not the greatest lens on today's market but is great build fast autofocus and enough sharp at f/3.5 and all this on APS-C ..

Weaknesses:

It has a lot of weakness but where I use this lens in low lights conditions I don't care about :)

Comments:

In low lights conditions is not so bad at all this lens .
