The Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II VC XR LD ASL IF(Model B005) is a standard fast 3x zoom lens, equipped with a 4 f-stop image stabilizer. The lens is a stabilized variant of the Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II, released in 2006.Due to an image stabilizer it features an altered optical scheme. The first XR element has been replaced with a simple one. Yet one aspherical element, one LD elements, and a gyroscopic group have been introduced. All in all the optical scheme includes 19 elements in 14 groups, including 3 aspherical, 2 LD, and 2 XR elements. The new Broadband multilayer Anti-Reflection (BBAR) coating is applied to reduce flare and ghosting.
The Tamron SP AF 17-50 mm f/ 2.8 Di II VC XR LD Aspherical (IF)is equipped with the zoom lock at 17 mm, which prevents barrel extension under its own weight when the lens is directed downwards.. The lens extends at 3 cm when zooming. The lens is equipped with an AF drive ordinary micro motor.
The focus ring rotates during autofocus operations. The lens features a Vibration Compensation switch and an AF/MF selector. Thanks to the Tamron SP AF 17-50 mm f/ 2.8 Di II VC XR LD Aspherical (IF) internal focusing system lens, the front element does not rotate, which enables the use of a polarizer and a petal hood. The center pinch snap front cap can be easily removed when the hood is mounted.
Autofocus does not function correctly with outer cross-type focus sensors on Canon OS 40D, 50D, 60D, 7D cameras.

The 5-year warranty extends to all Tamron lenses officially imported to the Russian Federation and purchased after September 1, 2010.In order to get the warranty you should get registered at the Tamron European website within two months after the lens purchase. The warranty is valid only for the first registered buyer.
