The Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm F2.8 G VR  is a telephoto macro lens with Vibration Reduction  image stabilization. This is the first lens with image stabilization for macro shooting. The system of Vibration Reduction II  provides the equivalent of shooting at shutter speed up to four stops faster.

The new optical scheme of the Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 G VR lens consists of 14 elements in 12 groups, including one ED glass element. The previous AF-D and Ai-S lenses utilizes different optical schemes.

The last element has Nano Crystal Coat for combating flare and rereflections. Internal focusing provides the lens length invariability and the front element immobility. There are two focusing modes -  manual and autofocus with manual focusing.
