Additional information:

The Super-Takumar 105 mm f/ 2.8  is a medium-telephoto lens with a single layer coating for M42 screw mount by Asahi Pentax.

High production quality. The lens construction includes pure metal and glass.

Good sharpness wide-open.  This lens has a beautiful bokeh (out-of-focus zones blur).

Pictures taken with this lens have a good pop-up 3D-effect, nice color rendering and resemble oil paintings. This lens deals nicely with models skin by hiding small defects and providing good outline sharpness.

This lens is rather compact and lightweight.  Can be easily connected to modern digital cameras. There are no problems with mirror interference on cameras such as Canon 5D and Canon 5D mark 2

Lens Asahi Pentax Super-Takumar 105mm f/2.8 suites well for portrait shooting, landscape working and architectural photography

This lens is not flare-resistant so we highly recommend to use lens hood.

Owner reviews: Super-Takumar 105 mm f/ 2.8

Сергей Бородин 1.1.2000 00:00:01
Period of use: 2 years

Strengths:
  • Lens picture resembles oil painting.  It has _a_ beautiful bokeh.
  • Rigid construction, comfortable focusing, especially if there is split-image focusing screen with microprism.
  • Lens has a small size and weight.
  • It provides beautiful color on photos  even by default without any processing.
  • Lens is  flare-resistant enough.

Weaknesses:

I didn't find any defects. You only need to get accustomed to it and then this lens will make you happy. But sometimes the lens catches sunlight spots if it's used without the hood.

Comments:

This lens is my one of the most liked portrait lenses. Also it is good for fragments and objects shooting that needs the beautiful bokeh. Although in general the bokeh graphics may surprise you! E.g. you can see at the attached to the review pictures: on the first one it seems that the background is paineted and on the second one there is very interesting bleeding of the trees. This lens is too sharp on the closed aperture.
