The Nikon Nikkor 35-70 mm f/ 3.5 Ai-S is a kit zoom lens with constant lens speed for Nikon F cameras.

This lens supplemented a lineup of Nikon professional kit lenses. It differs from the Nikkor 35-70 mm f/ 3.5 Ai lens in a smaller filter diameter and shorter minimum focusing distance. Besides, its front element does not rotate on focusing.

In macro mode the minimum focusing distance is reduced to 0.35 m, and in so doing a 1:3.9 scale is achieved.
