The Tamron SP AF 180 mm f/ 3.5 Di LD IF Macro  is a high quality full-format telephoto macro lens. It is indispensable when a greater working distance is required for shooting too scary subjects with a high magnification ratio. With rather slow autofocus it is not equipped with AF range limiter.

The lens features a Filter Effect Control (FEC) ring for rotating a polarizing filter with attached hood at the necessary angle.  The FEC ring rotates the filter and the hood.

There is an AF/MF one-touch switch.  Switching from autofocus to manual focusing is done by moving the focus ring back to the camera, in so doing the focus ring discloses the blue ring indicating that AF is off.  When switching, focusing may slightly shift.

Evaluation of  Tamron designations:

  • SP - super performance
  • AF : - autofocus
  • Di (Digitally integrated) - optimized for full-format digital cameras
  • LD - "Low Dispersion" elements decreasing aberrations and increasing contrast
  • IF - internal focusing (the lens does not extend, the front element does not rotate)
  • Macro - macrography with a max. magnification ratio of 1:1

The 5-year warranty extends to all Tamron lenses officially imported to the Russian Federation and purchased after September 1, 2010.  In order to get warranty you should get registered at the Tamron European website within two months after the lens purchase.  The warranty is valid only for the first registered buyer.
