Additional information:
MC Peleng 8 mm f/ 3.5 A (Russian: "Пеленг") - is a multi-coated superwide-angle circular fisheye photographic lens (its angle of view is 180° in any direction).
Produced by Belarus Optical & Mechanical Enterprise (BelOMO, Belorusskoe Optiko-Mechanichesckoye Obyedinenie) in Minsk, Belarus.
Export version has mark "MC Peleng 3.5/8A" or "BELOMO EWP FISHEYE LENS MC 3,5/8А". The version for ex-USSR is marked as "МС Пеленг 3,5/8А".
This lens makes a 24mm image circle placed in the center of a 24x36mm frame. Geometric centers of an image and a frame coincide.
When using on APS-C format cameras images are cropped from two sides (the lens acts like an average of circular and diagonal fisheye).
On 4/3 (Four Thirds) system it acts like a standard diagonal fisheye.
Letter "A" in the name means that the lens has a changeable adapter (former USSR analog of T2-mount adapters), which is an option to select. The available versions are M42, Canon EF, Nikon F, 4/3.
Aperture and focus controls are manual.
Captured images are sharp at F5.6. With more open diaphragms they are obviously "soft".
The MC Peleng 3.5/8A lens is easy-to-use at hyperfocal distance (one may forget about focusing).
Table of hyperfocal distances:
Aperture F3.5 F4 F5.6 F8 F11 F16
Hyperfocal distance, m 1.0 0.9 0.64 0.45 0.33 0.22
A set includes a leather case and an optional set of optical filters that can be attached to the rear side of this lens. It's unable to attach al filter to the front side because of too prominent frontal lens element.
The quality of assembly is good. It seems very reliable because of its metal body. No backlashes. Good enough blackening of internal surfaces.
