In order to minimize chromatic aberrations along the axis and at the borders of the frame the Tamron SP AF 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) lens utilizes one HID (High Dispersion) and one LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements.

The precise 7-blade aperture, one molded and two hybrid aspherical elements compensate for spherical and chromatic aberration and distortion, which ensures perfect optical performance of the lens.
