The SMC Pentax FA 50mm f/2.8 Macro is a fast short-focus AF macro prime for 35 mm SLR cameras with the K bayonet mount. The lens is designed for both AF and manual focus cameras.

The lens features a proprietary Super Multi Coating (SMC). The lens is capable of reaching 1:1 magnification for 24x36 mm format. At the side of the barrel is a clamping screw for fixing the optical unit. The aperture can be controlled from the camera (A position on the aperture ring) and from the lens.
